Methods to mitigate corrosion

In theory and practice, in addition to chemical water treatment, some other methods can be used to inhibit the precipitation of sediments, alleviate metal corrosion, and control the corrosion, slime and growth caused by microorganisms in theory and practice

1. In addition to adding scale inhibitors, there are generally the following methods to control the precipitation of scale: (1) using ion exchange resin method or lime softening method to remove scaling calcium ions from cooling water; (2) adding acid or passing CO2 gas to reduce pH value and stabilize bicarbonate; (3) using electrostatic scale inhibitor or electronic scale inhibitor.

2. In addition to adding dispersant, there are several ways to control the fouling: (1) reduce the turbidity of make-up water by pretreatment; (2) increase the side filtration equipment.

3. In addition to adding corrosion inhibitors, there are three ways to control metal corrosion: (1) increasing the pH value of cooling water; (2) selecting corrosion-resistant materials; (3) coating with anti-corrosion and scale inhibiting coatings.

4. In addition to adding biocides, the control methods of microbial corrosion, slime and growth mainly include the following methods: (1) selection of materials resistant to bacterial corrosion; (2) control of oxygen content, pH value, suspended solids and microbial nutrients in cooling water; (3) application of biocide; (4) cathodic protection of sacrificial anode; (5) cleaning; (6) prevention Sunlight;

Practice has proved that all the above methods as auxiliary means can play a certain role in some aspects of anti-corrosion, scale inhibition or sterilization. However, compared with chemical water treatment methods, they are not comprehensive, or the treatment efficiency of single mode is not up to the requirements, or it is not economic enough. A good water treatment control scheme is often based on chemical water treatment method, combined with some of the above auxiliary means according to the specific situation of the system.
